Grass-fed Eggs
During the warmer part of the year we keep the layers in what we call the Feathernet. It consists of a portable hoop house that is then surrounded by poultry netting to make an enclosed yard. The chickens roam around freely in this yard and are moved every few days, along with the hoop house, to a new area.
For winter housing we keep the layers in a greenhouse. Even on the coldest of winter days it gets quite cozy inside the greenhouse. Wood chips are used to make a deep bedding which the chickens keep scratched up and aerated making for a very clean environment.
The eggs have nice dark yolks, (due to the grass in their diet) are very firm and the flavor is exceptional!
