Pastured Poultry
Broilers: If you can’t already tell, we make an effort to ensure that every
animal we raise has access to pasture. The broilers are no exception
and are raised in bottomless 10’ by 12’ by 2’ high portable pens out
on pasture. Everyday we move these pens to fresh ground giving
the birds new grass and clean bedding. The birds get plenty of
exercise, sunshine, and fresh air. While the forage intake of these
chickens is not very high, it is enough to make a difference in the
taste and nutritional quality of the meat.
Stewing Hens: These are retired laying hens that
have done their job. They must be cooked slowly in order to be
tender, but the flavor is excellent. Great for casseroles!
Turkeys: These guys are basically raised the same
way as the broilers. They consume much more forage than the chickens
making an even bigger difference in the meat. Will help make for a
memorable Thanksgiving dinner!
