Learning to focus

Learning to focus

In The Field Consultants talks about the problem many new farmers ( or possibly this is true of many entrepreneurs) have of taking too much on and burning themselves out.

"Most farmers do not have problems getting up early and getting their hustle on. It is the shutting down and drawing a line in the sand on when the day ends that most of us struggle with.

However, being able to strategically end your day is just as important as having a disciplined beginning. Yes, there is always one more thing that "has to be done now!" but if you... are exhausted and discouraged because you are not getting enough rest, this will affect your performance and outlook on life and business."

While working with a brother and his custom made cabinetry business, we had a saying the work and speed were great, but direction counted for something too.

I've learned over the past few years how much time can be wasted on work that doesn't make the business any money. It's important to focus on clearly set goals and make sure that every task profits the business in some way. With this in mind, I've decided to drop some products here at WintersGrass Farm so that I can focus on just 2 or 3 things. I want to make sure that we produce only the highest quality products and it seems that the more directions we go in the harder that is. The market is there but I've realized there is only so much one person can take on.
